Dr. Pires specializes in Interventional Pain Management consisting of evaluation and diagnosis of the pain sources and concentrating management on the specific generators responsible for the pain. His focus is on providing non-pharmaceutical pain management and functional diagnostics through interventions which may include spine injections, ablative procedures, and surgical procedures including implantation of neurostimulators or spinal drug delivery systems, as well as Minimally Invasive Lumbar Decompression surgery and Percutaneous disc surgery.

He works together with a multidisciplinary team including Physical Therapists, Chiropractors, Acupuncturists, Psychologists, as well as several other medical specialists to best help each patient and tailor each patients individual treatment plan.

Dr. Pires' career in the health field began at the age of 18 as a Certified Personal Trainer. His interest in the field prompted a position with a Physical Therapy group, working with patients to regain function and strength after various injuries and surgeries.

As an Osteopathic Physician, Dr. Pires received additional training in the musculoskeletal system and diagnosis of musculoskeletal dysfunctions during his medical school. Dr. Pires recognized the value of incorporating his background in functional restoration and fitness into his medical practice and after his anesthesia residency he chose to accept a fellowship position with the Prestigious Cedars Sinai Medical Center Dept of anesthesia, Dept of Pain medicine.
